Because “China”: CIA called TikTok a threat to national security

CIA chief William Burns said that the popularity of the Chinese short video app TikTok in the United States worries the country’s authorities. He spoke about this in an interview with PBS, calling the application a threat to national security.

In that interview, in addition to worrying about the Russian-Iranian defense partnership, Burns called TikTok a threat to US national security, and also stated that the app is “a cause for genuine concern for the government.”

The head of the CIA fully supported the fears of US officials about the dangers of TikTok, since it belongs to a Chinese company. Based on this, he concluded that the Chinese government has the right to insist on access to US users’ information. At the same time, Beijing can not only access the data, but also control the content of the social network. “ I would be very careful ,” Burns added.
