KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has confirmed that he will be called up to provide his statement to the police over his speech made during a campaign for the Simpang Jeram by-election in Johor.
The Pas president’s political secretary Syahir Sulaiman said Bukit Aman contacted them this morning to obtain Hadi’s statement, and said the Islamist party leader was ready to cooperate with the police.
“Even before this, Hadi had already given his statement to Bukit Aman including surrendering the mobile phone of the administrator of his official Facebook account to the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to aid with investigations.
“In this matter, Hadi puts his full trust into the professionalism of the police and the MCMC in conducting their duties and the investigation,” he said.
