The Central Asian country presently generates 98% of its electricity from renewable sources and is poised to attain the 100% mark, reinforcing its commitment to bolstering global climate action.

Tajikistan’s Green Vision

President Rahmon’s vision is not limited to clean energy. The President also announced that by 2037, Tajikistan aims to morph into a ‘green‘ nation, with plans in place to drastically slash greenhouse gas emissions. This strategic move aligns the landlocked republic with international standards, signifying its active participation in the global fight against climate change.

Global Ranking and Future Plans

The country’s strategic positioning and commitment to renewable energy is exemplified by its plans to operationalize the third block of the Rogun hydroelectric power station by 2025. This ambitious project requires significant investment and the mobilization of thousands of specialists and construction equipment, demonstrating the country’s determination to attain its green vision.

Implications for Tajikistan and the World

President Rahmon’s plans not only position Tajikistan as a global leader in renewable energy but also signify a critical step towards a sustainable future.
